If anyone is interested in a little perspective on how sections of Day 1 are looking this time of year, here's a sneak peek of some of Day 1 from this past Saturday (late April 2020).

That section was a bit challenging, I took it in stages and made it OK. Would definitely be easier on an unloaded 300, but the 4 strokes are rock crushers.

I found it to be the most challenging of the D1 climbs. Good times!

Melissa and I rode part of day 1 on 6/13/2020. It was probably about 6:30am when the video starts. This is the first climb of Day 1, starting on trail 452 just after 1Da1. At 1:47 into the video are a couple rock ledges that ended one attempt last year. Just after that the trail turns into 451. It is beautiful up there, but that early in the morning the sun can make seeing anything impossible at times. I guess that makes a little more challenging. Just before the end it feels like you are climbing up into the sky. Amazing!

(There are a few ugly edits where I just cut out uninteresting stuff like taking off jackets, etc. I left the part with Melissa restarting on the steep hill just to show how easy she does it.)

I've spent so much time watching Martin's videos and those from others that I wanted to add to the pool. I rode the day 2 challenge section on 6/20/2020 and recorded the entire section.

I forgot to turn on the camera and missed the first couple hundred yards of the trail so I went back and took a quick look to splice in.

If you haven't ridden in the mountains, it is interesting to note that in spite of what the camera makes it look like, it is a pretty steep downhill for quite some time. I don't twist the throttle until the 5:30 mark.

I posted a full Day 1 recap and lessons learned in the T1 planning section. I included a link to a video as well, but also posting here in case others want to see it. Day 1 challenge section (starts about 22:30).

I have so much footage to sift through from our 10 days on the Tour of Idaho the past two weeks, and I want to take the time to do it right. However, as I continue working on that, I thought I would share a few snippets of our shenanigans. On Day 4, we rode the Custer Lookout challenge section. I had ridden this trail about 10 years ago (as well as Brent) so I had some knowledge of what we were getting ourselves into and was really looking forward to it. The way I looked at it, riding in the Yankee Fork area and not riding Custer Lookout is like going to Disneyland and not riding Space Mountain. We made it up with little drama, but on the return, you ride the same Razors Edge trail back to the main route. On the backside of the lookout, the trail traverses a very exposed section with a rock outcropping that can easily bump your footpeg and send you or your bike hundreds of feet down off the mountain. Momentum is your friend, and you just have to look where you want to go.....not where you don't want to go. Ride along to see what happened

Great videos! In the Day 1 full video the way you show your track across the terrain is a very helpful visual. Thanks for taking the time to make these and share them.
